What We Have Noticed: Sheex

Usually we feature a variety of items in our What We Have Noticed column, but this week we are only looking at the Sheex performance sheets. What is good for Mirinda Carfrae has at least caught our attention.

When this editor heard about the Sheex performance sheets for the first time he was pretty much amused by the slogan "Sleep Better – Play Better" and just like many other folks could certainly come up with all kinds of juvenile remarks that would go along with that line. "Better Sleep Leads to Better Performance" makes sense for sure, but how much of the promises were just marketing hype? We decided that a product shouldn't be judged before it is actually tested and went ahead and ordered a set.

When the Pewter colored Queen sized Sheex set arrived we were actually surprised by the silky smooth texture of the sheets and the incredible stretch capability of the fabric. High-end sheets are typically crafted from high thread cotton, but Sheex sheets utilize a polyester / spandex mix and that gives them that silky stretchy feel, not unlike athletic apparel.

We have used these sheets now for several months now and they have been very heavy in our laundry rotation. Our cotton sheets have actually taken a complete backseat to the Sheex ones, so that must mean that we do actually like them. They are very, very comfortable plus the stitching on the side makes it very easy to line them up correctly when making the bed.

This editor would not want to claim that his run or bike splits have gotten quicker, nor that his athletic performance has improved in any shape or form, but that is mostly related to limited training and injuries and not to the bed slept in. Sheex though seem to have worked for Mirinda Carfrae and we'll be watching the defending Ironman World Champion closely in Kona next week to see how rested she is.
