Dye, Kelleher in Costa Rica
Cameron Dye stormed to the win at the 2012 Revolution3 Triathlon in Costa Rica in a time of 1:58:01, thanks to a super swim and a monster bike effort. Nicole Kelleher grabbed the women's title in 2:14:10.
The men
Although Brian Fleischmann led the first lap of the swam, it was Cameron Dye who managed to reach the bikes first. He was closely followed by Brian Fleischmann, Manny Huerta and Leonardo Chacon.
Dye though pulled away on the bike and managed to get a serious gap on the pursuers. When Dye came back to the bike-run transition, no other Pro was in sight. Chris Foster and Michael Poole were next to be done with the 40k bike segment, and they were followed by Fleischmann, Chacon and Huerta.
Dye then hung on tough during the run and no one was able to catch him. When he crossed the line in first place in 1:58:01 he had an almost 1.5 minute advantage over runner-up Manny Huerta. Jesse Thomas rounded out the podium.
"I am super happy how this went," said Dye. "My game plan is no secret. It is always going to be swim as hard and ride as hard as I can and then do the best to hold in during the run. Play catch me if you can I guess and see if anyone has got the legs to run me down."
The women
Brianna Blanchard led the women out of the water followed closely by Lauren Goss and Malaika Homo.
Malaika Homo moved into the lead early on, but Nicole Kelleher moved past her and reached T2 first. Bree Wee was next in transition about one minute later, and Emily Cocks was next another minute back.
Kelleher built on her advantage and cruised to the win in 2:14:10, with Bree Wee finishing in second place and Sarah Gray in third.
"At first I was conservative, in the water left a little late but on the bike made the difference and went ahead," said Kelleher.
