Getting The Lead Out
Interestingly, the phrase, "a picture is worth a thousand words," appears to actually have come about long after silent film was already popular, and only shortly before the introduction of "talkies." Why there has yet to be an equivalent phrase as to the value of a moving film, I do not know. However, a quick poke around on Google revealed that several intrepid researchers have attempted to answer this very question. One estimate put video at 1.8 million words per minute in terms of equivalency. So, rather than writing that much, and boring all of you to tears, I thought it best just to share a video.
