2012 Eurobike – Day 2

We spent another day cruising through the Eurobike halls to see what is new, exciting, different or just happened to catch our attention.

We looked closer at the Campagnolo Athena EPS TT shifters, saw cool bikes from Felt, Scott, Argon 18, Orbea, Specialized, Canyon and UBC, noticed shoes from Bont and Fizik, caught a glimpse of a very neat trainer from Wahoo Fitness and had to make our way around a big party at the Continental booth.

The Campagnolo Athena EPS TT shifters are slightly longer than the Super Record counterparts, but a closer inspection of the connectors revealed that they are not compatible with each other. That means you can't use the longer Athena versions on your Super Record equipped machine.

The Challenge Crono S.C. tire is a counterpart to the Triathlon edition, and should make all the roadies happy.

We noticed this very, very cool Coren bike by UBC, and we were immediately smitten.

The very clean dropouts of the Coren.

Zipp launched the Firecrest 202 Carbon Clinchers here at Eurobike.

The very petite and beautiful Canyon Aeorad CF of Joaquim Rodriguez is displayed in the Canyon booth. Well, one of them is. He is currently leading the Vuelta on another one.

The Olympic Specialized Shiv of Tony Martin is hanging up at Specialized.

ISM brought their new slimmer Attack saddle to Friedrichshafen. This one is 110mm wide and is meant for roadies, but that should bot stop triathletes. Weight about 270 and MSRP $250.

The tail of the Lazer Wasp helmet can be removed and Lazer might have some other tail options in the future.

These are the Fizik women's tri shoes, but not two models, this one is indeed a pair.

The 2013 Argon 18 E118 has red highlights that sadly aren't visible from this angle, but you can take our word for it.

The Lezyne Mega Drive LED light outputs 1000 lumen.

This is the Paris-Roubaix race bike of John Degenkolb, who has already won 4 stages at the 2012 Vuelta.

The Scott Plasma 3 of Marino Vanhoenacker in the Scott booth.

There is only one Wiggo, and his signed TdF shoes are in the Bont booth.

Orbea is displaying their new Ordu in a tank, and rumor has it that they were struggling to sink this beauty.

This Wahoo Fitness trainer can be controlled with an iPhone, and wattage is measured with strain gauges.

Test out various Strava courses on that Kickr, plus as you can see, an iPad will do too.

The Castelli Pocket Liner jacket should be on everyone's wishlist.

A huge party thrown by Continental took over half of hall B1.
