What We Have Noticed: Lupine, Ass Savers …
In this issue of What We Have Noticed we look closer at the Lupine Piko 3 900 lumen light, a SmartAss fender, a tiny daypack from Sea to Summit, the Swissman Xtreme Triathlon and the Honey Badger Don't Care t-shirt.
Lupine Piko 3 headlight
What: Jordan Rapp reviewed quite a few light systems in 2010 and the Lupine Piko 3 was his favorite, but then it was "only" 550 lumens strong. It was updated to 750 lumens for 2011 and now packs a whopping 900 lumens in an absolutely tiny package. The light output is awesome and makes riding trails at night a real pleasure. If you click the Leuchtdauer & Lumen tab on the lupine.de website you can see the actual light output of the various settings. Total weight for light and battery is only 180 grams and we added a quarter coin next to the light in the picture below so you get an idea of the physical size of the Piko3.
Output: 900 lumens max
Run time: 1:40 at 900, 2:40 at 550 etc
MSRP: $365

Ass Savers SmartAss fender
What: If you have ever ridden your bike in wet conditions you certainly know what a moist rear end feels like. There are a few fine fender options out there, but none is finer and more thought out than the SmatAss from Ass Savers. The SmartAss sets up in a hurry and easily stows out of the way when not needed. But it apparently does not fit Brooks saddles and a few other saddles might be tricky too. Makes a great stocking stuffer.
Colors: many
MSRP: 60 kr (Swedish Krona) about $9 plus shipping

Sea To Summit Travelling Light daypack
What: The Sea To Summit Travelling Light daypack is among a series of very nice lightweight traveling products, and we all appreciate light and smart. This Sea To Summit daypack packs into a totally tiny package when not used and this way you can easily take it along. In the transition area it is always a circus act trying to figure out what to do with the bag, and while this one had 20 liters capacity isn't huge, it certainly could do this job and many others.
Volume: 20 liters (5.2 gallons)
Weight: 68 grams (2.4oz)
MSRP: $29.95

SwissMan Xtreme Triathlon
What: In terms of unique challenging Xtreme triathlons there is the legendary Norseman – the granddaddy of all, there is also one in Scotland called Celtman, and soon you can go to Switzerland to challenge yourself at the SwissMan Xtreme Triathlon. The 2013 test event will take place on June 22nd and this may be the location where you will have no issue convincing family and friends to come along. I hope your bucket list has some additional space, because the SwissMan ought to be on it for sure. But you better be ready for some very serious climbing and some stunning vistas.

Honey Badger Don't Care t-shirt
What: The Honey Badger "don't care," and often we should not either. Well, we should care about our family, friends and neighbors, but not so much about splits, training and winning at all costs. Life is too short, so wear this Honey Badger t-shirt from Busted Tees with great pride.
