Matschiner arrested, house searched

Stefan Matschiner, the now infamous former manager of disgraced Tour de France star Bernhard Kohl was arrested Monday night in Austria as he returned from a trip to the USA, reports the Austrian daily Kurier.

About a week ago, Lisa Huetthaler had admitted to doping in a lengthy interview in the Kurier and in that story accused Matschiner of being a supplier of EPO and blood doping. Bernhard Kohl now apparently followed suit and according to the Kurier went to the police and made statements about his former manager. According to Kohl (as quoted in the Kurier), Matschiner supplied Kohl with doping products from 2005 until July of 2008 and is also accused of having helped Kohl with blood doping.

"There is a strong suspicion of doping transactions until very recently," said the prosecutor Gerhard Jarosch. On Monday night, Matschiner was arrested and on Tuesday morning a search warrant on his home was served.
