We Noticed: Garmin, Visijax…

Currently the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show is taking place in Las Vegas and several brands launched new products. Garmin introduced the fēnix 3 and the vívofit 2 among other new products, Visijax showed an LED laced commuter jacket and Polar showed their new entry level A300, but there is of course also more than just the CES. We noticed fancy swim shorts from TYR, and a designer t-shirt from Huub.

Garmin fēnix 3

The fēnix 3 is one of the newest high end GPS watches from the Garmin brand and it offers a 1.2 inch color Chroma display and a stainless steel EXO antenna with GPS + Glonass support. The fēnix 3 also has a VO2 max and recovery adviser feature and reportedly will predict race finish times based on your VO2 max numbers. It will also report your cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time when used with the HRM-Run monitor. The watch has also some great navigation features including but not limited to a virtual bread crumb trail. What can your watch currently do beyond telling time?
MSRP: $499

The Fenix 3 also looks sharp when wearing it casually in street or business clothes. Never get lost again when going to a coffee shop in a town you visit.

Garmin vívofit 2

The fitness tracing craze is here to stay and the devices are getting new smart looks. My wife's 88-year old grandmother also just jumped on the band wagon, and now two of her friends wear a fitness tracking armband that also replaced the watch they used to wear. Garmin has also jumped into this arena with the vívofit and now the newly released vívofit 2. Lots of different band options will really allow the consumer to find something to suit their personal style and color scheme, plus Garmin partnered with Jonathan Adler to have some even fancier offerings. But it is not just about looks. With a battery life of one year it reminds users to stay active and records their activities 24/7. It shows steps, calories, distance and time of day on the back lit display and monitors sleep too. All data then gets auto synched to Garmin Connect.
MSRP: $129.99

Visijax commuter jacket

British outfit Visijax is also present at CES and their highly visible commuter jacket is getting a lot of attention, and is even up for a CES innovation award. It features a total of 23 integrated high intensity LEDs on the front (white) and back (red), and also features motion-activated, self-cancelling turn indicators using Visijax’s IMASS® proprietary technology,]. All this in a Dupont Teflon coated rainproof and breathable fabric and available either in black or fluorescent yellow as featured here.
Sizes: XS -XXL
MSRP: £99.99

Polar A300 watch

Polar just launched the A300, a watch meant for the beginning athlete and likely a direct competitor to fitness tracking arm bands. It logs your daily and nightly movements, and then analyzes your activities and workouts on Polar Flow. It has interchangeable bands that allow users to personalize their unit with their favorite colors. It is offered in pink, black and white and you can purchase additional bands in grey, blue and yellow, to suit your mood or style. Dimensions and buttons appear to be very similar to the M400 watch but according to Polar the A300 is less runner focused, and less. expensive.
MSRP: $139 (additional bands $25)

TYR Camo Star All Over suit

The TYR Camo Star All Over square cut swim suit is suited well to those folks ill of the traditional black or blue swim suit offerings, and it is likely dark enough of a color scheme to keep your privates private. As a slow swimmer I personally would not do this suit any justice, but anyone with swim prowess can easily do a bit of a show and tell at the pool. I can't be 100% sure, but I think Jay Prasuhn has one or two of these in his swim bag. It is on sale, so you better hurry, as of now only 26 and 28 inch sizes are left.
MSRP: $24.99

Huub Contino t-shirt

Artist Jon Contino helped Huub Design with these Tri Or Die t-shirts and while a bit too much Tri for me on this shirt, I think this offering will find many triathletes well. It is available in a few different colorways and sizes and it can be yours if the price is right.
MSRP: £19.99
