IM Kona 2015 – women run pics
The run at the end of an Ironman race is always hard, but some athletes make it look effortless. This year in Kona it was hot and without a cloud in the sky, and that made for a high attrition rate. Here now is a running gallery of female pros during the 2015 GoPro Ironman World Championship.
The 2015 champion Daniela Ryf in full stride in the Natural Energy Lab running 3:06:37.
Jodie Swallow started the run in second place but the fast Brit did not finish.
Rachel Joyce paced herself nicely during the bike segment and then ran to 2nd place with a 3:08:42 marathon.
Liz Blatchford was solid all day, and her 3:06:25 run helped her to finish third.
Mary Beth Ellis was in good position after the bike segment, but fell back to 13th place with a 3:33:37 run.
Michelle Vesterby was near the front all day and was rewarded with a 4th place finish after running 3:17:14.
Camilla Pedersen ended up in 8th place with what turned out to be the slowest run in the top 10, and that cost her a top 5 finish.
A very focused Heather Jackson on the way to 5th place with a 3:07:53 marathon.
Aussie Annabel Luxford ended up in 12th place after running 3:27:50.
Brit Susie Cheetham ran 3:06:55 and finished 6th.
Caroline Steffen was among the favorites but she ended up in 9th place and a total time of 9:27:54.
German Mareen Hufe struggled during the run and had a 3:55:52 run split.
Lucy Gossage was the 3rd British pro in the top 10 after a 3:15:51 run.
American Beth Gerdes ran to a 15th place finish with a 3:16:49 marathon.
American Sarah Piampiano stormed to a 7th place with a 3:06:33 time.
With a 3:16:05 run Sweden's Asa Lundstrom finished just outside the top 10.
Liz Lyles finished 14th and had managed a 3:14:06 marathon.
Kiwi Gina Crawford did not finish the run.
The marathon time for American Dede Griesbauer was 3:56:34
American Kelly Williamson ran 3:10:12 after a 5:35:52 bike split and that meant 18th place.
Eva Wutti finished 16th with a 3:10:18 run split.
Caitlin Snow who is well known for her running prowess only managed a 3:24:44 run on this hot day in Kona.
Kiwi Britta Martin had a 3:18:51 marathon and finished 17th in this competitive field.
Aussie Dimity-Lee Duke running down Palani at the end of a 3:27:44 marathon.
Brazilian Ariana Monticeli almost matched her 5:15:19 bike split with a 5:16:01 run.
