Various updates from TrainerRoad
TrainerRoad has been busy with a couple of new initiatives along with some software updates. Probably the most important update has been their revamped desktop application.
TrainerRoad has been quite successful in their development of mobile platforms, but their desktop application was lagging behind. That is no longer true. TrainerRoad has released a revamped version of their desktop platform to mirror their popular mobile application. This includes improved viewing of the various training plans, improved device pairing, support for Kinetic inRide2, and an overall simplification of the desktop application. They also have a number of additional updates planned for the upcoming weeks, including the ability to follow workout plans, video workout support, social sharing, and CompuTrainer/PowerBeam Pro support. Currently all of these improvements only apply to Windows operating systems, but we can expect a Mac update in the future. Also, on the mobile software front, I was able to confirm that they are continuing to get closer to the release of an Android application.
Along with revamped desktop application, TrainerRoad has also joined the world of Podcasts. “Ask a Cycling Coach” is a podcast where triathletes and cyclists can ask questions of USAC/USAT Level 1 Coach Chad Timmerman, along with other special guests. The podcast can be heard live every Friday at 12:00pm PST, or you can find it on iTunes or Soundcloud.
Along with “Ask a Cycling Coach,” TrainerRoad will also be releasing a mini-documentary series about road cyclist Justin Rossi, a nationally ranked Category 1 racer (48:08 40K TT Time) for the Herbalife Marc-Pro Strava Team, that will provide an inside look at what it takes to compete at the elite level.
