NormaTec Acquired By Hyperice, Inc.
NormaTec, the innovator of pneumatic compression systems (especially within the multisport world), has been acquired by Hyperice, Inc. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
As part of the acquisition, the companies will combine workforces and integrate their product offerings. The acquisition will also give Hyperice a second base of U.S. operation out of NormaTec's space in Boston, working in conjunction with Hyperice's existing global headquarters in Irvine, California. NormaTec CEO Gilad Jacobs will join Hyperice's leadership team as Chief Innovation Officer.
"This acquisition is an absolute game changer for the performance and wellness industry," said Jacobs.
Hyperice CEO Jim Heuther commented, "By joining forces, we will have the most talented, dynamic, and inspiring team on Earth. We continue on our relentless mission to help people move better and live better, worldwide."
Both companies are well-known for their application in sport, particularly at the professional level. The companies have collaborated within the sport performance and military markets for the last four years.
The planned innovation over the next two years are what the combined team are calling "wellness pods," described in their press release as "a physical experience which includes a full suite of Hyperice and Normatec devices." Wellness pods are planned to be implemented throughout the world, with thousands of pods launched by 2022.
The combined company will also engage in research to study the combined effects of the full suite of products used in a variety of sequences for warm-up, recovery, and general body maintenance.
