Ellie Salthouse of Australia and Filipe Azevedo of Portugal took top honors at Ironman 70.3 Augusta.

Salthouse, coming off a win in Match 4 at the prestigious Collins Cup, combined a 3rd best 20:00 swim, a 2nd best 2:21:06 bike split and 3rd fastest 1:19:52 half marathon to finish in 4:04:47 with a 38 seconds margin over Canadian Tamara Jewett and 4:39 over 3rd place finisher Danielle Lewis of the U.S.

Jewett, who had a stellar career as a runner, had an outstanding by-far race-best 1:13:09 run to make up for a 7:01 deficit after the bike leg.

Filipe Azevedo of Portugal combined a second-fastest 19:44 swim, a second-best 2:05:18 bike split and a 3rd-quickest 1:10:05 run split to finish in 3:39:03 with a 1-minute margin over Jason West of the U.S. – who had a race-best 1:09:03 run split – and 4:19 over third place finisher Timothy Reed of Australia.

The win adds to Azevedo’s best recent finishes including a 2nd at Dubai 70.3 in March, a win at the 2018 and 2019 Shanghai 70.3, and a 2nd place at 2019 Astana 70.3.
