Fischer, Guenter Win USAT Olympic Distance AG Nationals

Dani Fischer, a pharmacist from Greenfield, Indiana and the 2019 USAT Triathlete of the Year, was the Female 30-34 and overall winner of the USA Triathlon Olympic Distance Age Group National Championship held Saturday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fischer finished the 1.5 kilometer swim in Lake Monoma, the 40 kilometer bike course, and the 10 kilometer run in a time of 2:10:30, which gave her 45 seconds margin of victory over 25-29 winner Marissa Lovell, and 1:17 over Female 20-24 and 3rd overall finisher Brooke Kelly.

"My mantra today was 'Be relentless' and it all worked out,” Fischer told USA Triathlon media. “I'm pretty proud of myself for staying in it today and being relentless and gritting it out. I'm extremely grateful to be here and to be healthy.”

Matthew Guenter, a Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin of Boulder, Colorado won the 25-29 and the Men’s overall title with a time of 1:51:40 – combining an 18:28 swim in 62.6 degree water temperature water, a 54:28 bike split and a 35:18 split for the 10k run. Guenter surpassed Men’s 30-34 winner and second overall Todd Buckingham by 3:47 and Men’s 20-24 winner and third overall David Reynolds by 3:54.

With severe weather likely, USA Triathlon officials changed Sunday's Sprint Distance to a SuperSprint Distance event.
