IRONMAN 70.3 Worlds Field Finalized

Championship season is in full swing, as the official start lists for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship later this month have been released, with Taylor Knibb and Kristian Blummenfelt respectively seeking to defend their crowns.

More than 6,000 athletes are registered for the event, taking place in Lahti, Finland. “With a staggering amount of world-class talent coming to Finland, we can all expect to see a hard-fought world championship and immensely entertaining competition,” said Andrew Messick, President & Chief Executive Officer for The IRONMAN Group. “Lahti will be an excellent host as the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship hits this beautiful Scandinavian country for the first time."

Men's Field for Sunday, August 27th

The Norwegians Collide! Defending champion Blummenfelt will go head-to-head with countryman and defending IRONMAN World Champion Gustav Iden in what is normally Iden's territory, from a distance perspective. But they will also have to contend with the likes of Ben Kanute, Sam Long, Jackson Laundry, and Frederic Funk for the top step of the podium and their share of the $350,000 prize purse.

Notable absences include Magnus Ditlev, Sam Laidlow, and recent PTO US Open champion Jan Frodeno — in some cases, likely a result of being so close to the race date for the men's IRONMAN World Championship in Nice.
