Weekend Wrap-Up: Felt Bicycles Sold Again, Buckingham Hit By Car in Bahrain
Felt Bicycles Sold for Third Time in Six Years
Felt Bicycles will have new ownership in 2024, as they will be sold by Pierer Mobility to a new independent ownership group.
Pierer Mobility noted challenging industry headwinds in their announcement of the plan. Current Chief Sales Officer for New Mobility at KTM (a division of Pierer Mobility) Florian Burguet will leave his current position to take reins of the consortium that will purchase Felt Bicycles. Pierer will fully exit all non-e-bike divisions with this, and other divestments, by spring of 2024.
Felt was first purchased in 2017 by the Rossignol Group. Rossignol held ownership of Felt through 2021, when the Pierer transaction was announced.
Buckingham Hit By Car While Leading Bahrain 70.3
Lucy Buckingham is recovering from minor injuries sustained in a collision with a car during this weekend's IRONMAN 70.3 Bahrain.
Buckingham had led from the start through the swim and the bike, opening up a sizable lead on chasers Caroline Pohle and Kat Matthews. According to reports, an incident between two cars led to one of them encroaching the coned off section of the bike course, with Buckingham landing on the hood of one of them.
Buckingham was able to continue on through the race, but would eventually fade to seventh place in part due to injuries sustained during the collision.
