Brown, Lawn take Korea 70.3
Cameron Brown showed the 10-time Ironman New Zealand winner is still in top form, leading fellow Kiwi men Guy Crawford and Kieran Doe to a sweep of the podium at Ironman 70.3 Korea on Jeju Island Sunday. Brown’s 4:03:58 finish topped Crawford by 11 minutes 5 seconds and Doe by 11:58.
Joanna Lawn, the 7-time Ironman Zealand women’s champion, dominated the women’s field, hitting the tape in 4:38:54 with a margin of 29:12 over runner-up Yasuko Miyazaki of Japan and 45 minjutes 9 seconds over 35-39 age grouper Sarah Wheeler of Australia, who was third overall.
Lawn had a month off after a full race calendar. “It was really hard to race today after a month with no real training,” she told Ironman.com. “And it’s also actually very hard when you are not racing many girls, mentally it is hard to keep pushing. But this is a beautiful place and course and the bike was amazing — but that run was pretty brutal.”
