Spain’s Marcel Zamora Pérez had the fastest bike split on the ultra hard Embrunman course and that allowed him to take the win in 9:42:21. Jeanne Collonge from France crushed the women’s field in 10:56:43.

Raleigh, NC resident Thys Wind was the fastest age grouper at Ironman 70.3 Raleigh and is regionally a contender for overall titles. We bumped into him at the Lake Mayo Sprint triathlon – a race where he came away with a big W.

Ritchie Nicholls and Daniela Ryf took the wins at the Finanzgruppen Naspa Ironman 70.3 European Championship and here are images from the event.

Nicholls, Ryf superb in Wiesbaden

Alpe d’Huez champion Ritchie Nicholls had a superb day in Wiesbaden and closed it out with a 1:08:53 run to take the 70.3 European Champs in front of Jan Frodeno. Daniela Ryf ran down Annabel Luxford to take the women’s title in 4:31:34.

Ottawa pride Ryan Cain

Ottawa resident Ryan Cain stepped up to a Pro license in 2011 and most recently finished 5th at Ironman Lake Placid. That may be his finest Pro result to date, but he now is back at his day job for the Canadian Armed Forces.
