A couple weeks ago reported that Marino Vanhoenacker was injured and is thus an unlikely starter at Kona 2013 and today he announced that the injury forced him to take a few weeks off and focus on next year.

Kiwi Callum Millward just finished 3rd at Ironman 70.3 Boulder and is now focused on the big event in Las Vegas. 2012 was a learning experience for that Boulder resident and he is ready to show what he has got.
23 men and 6 women assembled in Penticton over the British Columbia Day weekend for the 13th Ultraman Canada and David Matheson and Iona MacKenzie took the wins.
21-year old Aussie Pro Sam Douglas has New York City as his current training base and he will be there most of the summer. Douglas finished 2nd to Joe Gambles at 70.3 Syracuse and is now getting ready for Rev3 Maine.
The 2013 isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is over but the passion for this event will linger on. Participating athletes and other witnesses will carry the gospel of Norseman around the world.
Swissman champion Markus Stierli took the win at the 2013 isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in 11:25:16. Norwegian Inger Liv Bjerkreim Nilsen grabbed the women’s title on day that was described as ultra tough.
We checked out Cam Brown’s Avanti Chrono Evo II last year, but he is now on a Chrono Team and we looked closer at that bike while Cam was racing in Europe.
Emma Pooley is best known for her road cycling and time trial results, but this former runner competed in triathlon before she was famous. Pooley won Swissman earlier this year and just finished 5th at Ironman Switzerland.
We stumbled upon age grouper Nuno Henrique Luz at the DATEV Challenge Roth swim practice and we knew in an instant that he should be interviewed. He actually came to Roth to do his very first triathlon.
Kristin Möller won Ironman Lanzarote in mid May and followed it up with a podium spot at the European Ironman Championships in Frankfurt, Germany. We however bumped into her in Roth where she took part in a relay.
With the July 28, 2013 deadline now behind us we can look at the Pros who managed to capture their early Kona slots. 40 men and 28 women will have the monkey of their back, but for some an even bigger monkey is on.
