Batelier, Bucher in Portugal

France’s Franky Batelier won the opening round of the European XTERRA season with a great performance in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. The women’s title was taken by Renata Bucher who padded her already impressive resume.

Introducing new Pro Kyle Leto

Kyle Leto was first out of the water at the recent Rohto Ironman 70.3 California event and ended up in 8th place after being out-sprinted to the line by Ben Hoffman. This first year Pro though is more so focused on ITU racing.

The slogan of the Ironman European Championships is The longest day of the year. In 2010, the event in Frankfurt, Germany will become indeed the longest day in the world of Ironman events, but also the shortest.

Mooloolaba to Vendula Frintova

Vendula Frintova chased hard on the bike and then ran down Tomoko Sakimoto and Liz Blatchford to win the 2010 Mooloolaba ITU Triathlon World Cup in Australia. Sakimoto and Blatchford finished second and third.

Kahlefeldt strikes first

The 2010 ITU World Cup series launched in Mooloolaba, Australia and Aussie Brad Kahlefeldt grabbed the first win. Great Britain’s Stuart Hayes finished second and Aussie James Seear rounded out the podium.

Raelert and Carfrae in Oceanside

The 2010 Rohto Ironman 70.3 California had a stellar International field with tons of great pros at the start, but in the end German Michael Raelert and Aussie Mirinda Carfrae got away with the titles.

Vansteelant, Asplund win Powerman, AL

The fastest bike split of the day capped with 2 great runs helped 2008 ITU World Champion Joerie Vansteelant to win the 2010 Powerman Alabama Elite Championships. The women’s title went to Marisa Asplund who also outbiked her competition.

Vernay and Lester rule OZ

With his win today in Port Macquarie, Patrick Vernay has now captured his fourth Ironman Australia title. Carrie Lester took charge of the women’s race during the bike and won her first Ironman crown quite convincingly.

Introducing Frederik Van Lierde

Despite the stunning field at the recent Abu Dhabi Triathlon, Frederik Van Lierde managed to earn a 5th place and a good pay check. The Belgian Pro also has some other nice results to his name.
