Chris Legh’s Speed Concept
We encountered Aussie Pro Chris Legh on the Queen K highway during 2013 Ironman Kona week and he kindly stopped and let us look closer at his new ride. This new Trek Speed Concept has a stunningly beautiful Gatorade paint job but this reporter sadly managed to scratch the new paint job at the bottom of the downtube.
But here is now a look at the bike that will carry the fierce Aussie competitor for the last time in Kona as a Pro.
This simple paint scheme is quite an attention getter.
The Trek Speed Concept Bontrager cockpit.
Up close with the integrated stem of the Speed Concept of Chris Legh.
The Bento Box up front holds a few gels and is easily accessible.
The Draft Box in the rear can also hold a few items, ie the repair kit.
There are some Gatorade gels in the to ptube bento box as we had suspected.
The fork of the Trek Speed Concept with the integrated brakes looks very clean and fast.
A Gatorade bottle on the downtube.
A simple Fizik Arione for Chris Legh.
The seatpost features a dial to set the pitch of the saddle.
Chris Legh rides 170mm cranks and told this reporter that he finally saw the light in that regard.
Shimano Dura-Ace mechanical on this bike.
Mavic Cosmic wheels and matching Mavic tires round out the package.
But again apologies for the little scratches at the bottom of the downtube. Lesson learned – avoid Lava rocks.
