Catharine Pendrel’s Orbea Alma

Canadian Catharine Pendrel is the current MTB world champion and she also won that title in 2011. This Canadian national team and Luna Pro team member won the Sea Otter Classic XC event this past weekend aboard the Shimano equipped Team Luna Orbea Alma featured below.

The 5'5" Pendrel competes on a size S Orbea Alma with many nice custom details.

In addition to the world champion rainbow stripes on her race kit, she also has a few nice touches along those lines on her bike.

The Shimano XTR cockpit is straight forward.

The Shimano XTR Di2 display got dusty enough during the Sea Otter Classic XC apparently forcing Pendrel to wipe some dust of it.

The Garmin head unit is attached via a barfly mount and has nice custom graphics.

In case you stumble on that bike leaning somewhere by itself, here is a proper reminder as to the owner of this fast machine.

A single water bottle cage on the curvacious lines of this Orbea Alma. And clearly the bike is ready for a bath and some tender love.

Pendrel has a singular 32 tooth ring up front on 170mm cranks with a guide to keep the chain on the ring.

A stages power meter gives Pendrel feedback.

The Shimano XTR Di2 rear derailleur handles a 11-40 Shimano XTR cassette.

The white Shimano Pro Turnix saddle still looks pristine.

The Fox Float 32 fork offers 100mm of travel and has an IRD 3 stage lock feature.

Pendrel opted for these Maxxis tires in the sandy hard packed conditions around Laguna Seca.
