CycleOps Magnus

CycleOps announced the release of its newest smart trainer, the Magnus, adding more competition in the wheel-on smart trainer category.

The Magnus, built to the same specs as the Classic Series Frame and CycleOps' proprietary clutch knob for proper tire pressure, comes with dual Ant+FEC and BTLE 4.0, which are becoming the industry standard on all new trainers.

It boasts “faster-than-ever” electromagnetic resistance to support training platforms such as Zwift and VirtualTraining, and a maximum wattage of 1500 Watts.

The Magnus appears gauged to compete with the Wahoo Kickr Snap and Tacx Vortex, offering greater compatibility with 120mm, 130mm, and 135mm rear drop outs, the largest incline support at 15%, and smallest footprint (29" x 16").

It may also be the quietest wheel-on smart trainer as CycleOps lists sound decibels at 65-69 at 20mph.

The Magnus is selling for $599 without the required riser block ($19.99-$29.99) and have started accepting pre-orders with shipping starting in Fall 2016.
