Best of What We Have Noticed 2011

After perusing all of this year's What We have Noticed features, our editor selected his favorite ten items of 2011. It was not an easy decision to make, but someone had to do it.

Bulumu granola

We featured Bulumu Granola in late January and that company was founded a short time before then by Brandon Bailey and Jasmine Oienck in Colorado. We had heard that the two had a passion for taste and quality, but at the time we featured we had only seen it. By now we have certainly tasted it. Yum.

Topeak Ratchet Rocket

After seeing a nifty tool like this one a few times in the A2 wind tunnel in Mooresville, NC, we finally featured it in a March issue of What We Have Noticed. While we are still not sure where then wind tunnel operator Mike Giraud got his, the Topeak Ratchet Rocket does exactly that and has even won a coveted red dot design award.

TwinSix Crank

The TwinSix Crank t-shirt has been this editor’s favorite but had not been available for quite some time after its original release until a new version appeared in April of 2011 and so of course it had to be featured then and now. Still love it.

Chobani GreekYogurt

We had stumbled upon the Chobani Greek Yogurts at the 2011 Sea Otter Classic festival and since then the fridge of this editor had a nice constant supply of these delicious protein rich yogurts. A Black Cherry version was actually devoured during the writing of this feature.

Giro Selector

The Giro Selector was designed as a short course TT helmet but has been spotted on the heads of various long course Pros. It is a very beautiful design and was featured on What We Have Noticed in late May.

Wouter Weylandt108 t-shirt

We actually had a tough time deciding if we should feature the Stomach of Anger Wouter Weyllandt shirt or the Johnny Hoogerland one, but in the end decided this 108 shirt was more powerful. This shirt is no longer available and was only offered during the Giro D’Italia after Trek-Leopard rider Wouter Weylandt died in the Giro D'Italia.to raise money for his family. Great cause, beautiful design. RIP Wouter Weylandt.

Honey Stinger Strawberry Waffle

The truth is that this editor really likes all the Honey Stinger Waffles and the strawberry version just happened to show up in September of 2011. So it was not a tough decision to bring up this waffle into the starting lineup here.

Brooks Pure Connect

The Brooks Pure Connect was created for those runners who believe less is more, and we featured this very attractive shoe in November of 2011. Like all minimalist shoes this one isn’t for everybody, but does that really matter?

Race bib coasters

These race bib coasters were featured on What We Have Noticed just before the holidays but they are a very nifty item any time of the year. What else could you possibly want to do with all those old race bibs?

PocketToolX Mako bike tool

The design of the Mako Bike Tool is too attractive to not be featured here and thus it got the last spot. It is made from Aerospace titanium and has an incredible amount of tools within. 14G and 15G spoke wrnches, 8,9, 10, 15 and 16mm box wrenches, 5 and 6mm Allen and much more including a bottle opener.
