Blanchart, Gossage top TriGrandPrix Navarra

Miquel Blanchart of Spain and Lucy Gossage of Great Britain took the top honors at the TriGrandPrix half Ironman distance event Sunday in Navarra Spain.

Blanchart took the lead with a 24:04 swim, protected his advantage with a 2:20 bike and his 1:16:19 half-marathon held on against the race–best run of TriGrandPrix series leader Raul Amatriain to take the win with a time of 4:01:18. Amatriain took second, 3:10 behind Blanchart, and Unai Yus took the final spot on the men’s podium in 4:17:41.

In the women’s race, Estefania Gomez was first out of the swim in 28:43, followed by Lucy Gossage in 29:29 and Ana Monreal in 29:42. Gossage took the lead on the bike and maintained it to finish first in 4:36:54, with Ana Casares second in 4:55:50 and defending Navarra champion Gomez placing third in 4:59:39.
