Emma Pallant, Yohan Le Berre win Vichy 70.3

Duathlon stars Emma Pallant of Great Britain and Yohan Le Berre of France took top honors at Ironman 70.3 Vichy.
Women
Pallant overcame a 4 minute deficit after the bike to overtake Jocelyn McCauley of the U.S. with a blazing 1:16:18 half marathon. Pallant finished in 4:25:18 with a 1:43 margin of victory over McCauley (1:22:01 run split) and 3:01 over 3rd place finisher Manon Genet of France, who closed with a women's second-fastest 1:19:23 run.
The victory adds to Pallant’s 2019 successes including a win at Pays d’Aix 70.3 and 2nd at Staffordshire 70.3. Last year she won Barcelona 70.3 and Staffordshire 70.3, and took 3rd at Ironman Austria. In 2017 she took 3rd at the ITU Duathlon World Championship, and she won the 2016 and 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships. Pallant was a junior 1500 meter track and field star before taking up duathlon and triathlon in 2012.
Men
Le Berre overcame a 1:29 deficit after the swim with a race-best 2:19:04 bike leg that gave him a 2:36 lead at T2 over 2018 Ironman World Championship 3rd place finisher David McNamee. While McNamee cut 1:22 from Le Berre’s lead with a race-best 1:08:18 half marathon, the Scotsman fell 1:15 short of Le Berre’s 3:57:12 finish. Franz Loeschke of Germany combined a 2nd-fastest 2:21:10 bike split and a 2nd-best 1:08:57 run split to finish 3rd, 1:52 behind the winner and 37 seconds behind McNamee.
Earlier this year, Le Berre finished 5th at the ITU Duathlon World Championship. In 2018 he finished 2nd at the ITU Duathlon World Championship and in 2017 he finished 4th at the ITU Duathlon World Championship.
