Images from 70.3 Luxembourg

We were super thrilled to see Marino Vanhoenacker back on top of the podium and here are lots of images from the Ergo Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg thanks to our shooter Karsten Täschner.

The Pro men are lined up on the River Moselle for the 1pm wetsuit legal start.

A relatively small Pro field and still lots of battling for position.

The defending champion Axel Zeebroek had a superb swim and he set the early pace on the bike

Swiss Pro Céline Schärer was the first female out of the river Moselle with a superb swim split.

Susie Hignett had a solid day but fell short of the win.

Both the bike and run segments were along the scenic Moselle.

German Nils Frommhold was among those front runners out of the water and he together with Zeebroek were the force on the bike, until…..

Marino Vanhoenacker had some fine results already, but has not looked as sharp as in Luxembourg. He caught the leaders and then pulled away in the Marion style we have come to known.

Here are a bunch of age groupers on one of the climbs on the course.

The Pros rolled through vineyards and other scenic pastures.

Lucie Zelenkova Reed did not have a good day and dropped out after the bike.

Infamous Lisa Hütthaler smashed the competition on the bike.

Up and up we go.

Brit Alice Hector on her way to 3rd place.

Manuel Küng ran well, but was unable to crack the podium.

Marino Bink Vanhoenacker fired on all cylinders and was thrilled with his day.

Uplace-BMC PRo Romain Guillaume snagged 5th place.

Initially Frommhold gained time on Vanhoenacker, but the Belgian found another gear late. That meant this German had to settle for second place.

Zeebroek ran hard to get away Manuel Küng and keep 3rd place.

The happy champion.
