Life Time Fitness, the live race call
Update: Click to the page where we called the race live.
The Slowtwitch Ice Cream Truck is rolling into Minneapolis this weekend, just in time for short course ground center in North America. The Life Time Fitness Triathlon tuned America in and turned it on to big time, big money, short course racing and, this Saturday morning, Slowtwitch will cover the 09 edition live.
Pro men will enter Lake Nokomis at 7AM Central Standard Time. This is 8AM Eastern Time, 5AM Pacific Time. Slowtwitch will start its broadcast 15 minutes prior to the race. Women leave 3 minutes after the men.
The men's field is headlined by former Life Time Fitness champ Greg Bennett and last year's runner up Andy Potts. They'll have to beat Matty Reed, fresh off convincing victories at the Rev3Tri and California 70.3; Ironman champ Craig Alexander; and a stacked field of no-draft Olympic distance racers, including the reigning Chicago Tri champ Stuart Hayes.
U.S. Olympian Laura Bennett will face last year's 2nd and 3rd place finishers at this race, Becky Lavelle and Sarah Haskins. They'll run into a red hot Rebeccah Wassner, this year's St. Anthony's champ. Wassner followed up with a classy run-away win at the Columbia Triathlon.
Also in the women's race are Sarah Groff, Jodie Swallow, Julie Dibens, with early speed threat Sara McClarty.
