Martyn Ashton’s determination
Professional stunt and trials rider Martyn Ashton was paralyzed in an accident at the British Moto GP in the fall of 2013, but he is now back on his bike with determination and grit, setting an example for the rest of us. Slowtwitch previously featured triathletes Rajesh Durbal and Hector Picard and they continue to inspire readers. But now let's see what Martyn Ashton is up to in a video by the Global Mountain Biking Network (GMBN).
This video will inspire you, bring you joy and likely cause you to shed a few tears.
“Of course I have questioned if I’ll walk again, and I don’t know if I will or not. But with riding a mountain bike, for whatever reason, it was always ‘How are we going to do it?’. Never riding a bike again? Well, that never came up,” said Ashton to GMBN . “As soon as they’ve pushed me off at the top of the summit, I was no longer the guy in a wheelchair: we were four mountain bikers riding together and we were having so much fun – I was having the best time I’ve ever had on a bike. Genuinely.”
Here he talks about the bike he is riding and the setup that makes it possible.
We are constantly reminded these days that almost anything is possible – when we put our minds to it.
