by Tim Carlson, September 12, 2017Despite the tough undulating run course in Chattanooga we saw some very fast running times and very captivating battles for the podium. Here now are pics from the men on the run.
Ben Kanute put down the hammer on the difficult Chattanooga bike course with a 2:08:10 split, but the fastest split went to Sebastian Kienle who rode 2:07:45. Kanute however finished second to Spain’s Javier Gomez who rode 2:12:27 on the way to a 3:49:44 overall time. Kienle struggled during the run and ended up 5th.
Braden Currie of New Zealand edged Ben Hoffman of the U.S. by 1 second at Santa Cruz 70.3.
Javier Gomez passed long time race leader Ben Kanute at Mile 8 of the run to win Ironman 70.3 Worlds by 1:22.
