Rappstar’s 4th Annual World Bicycle Relief Charity Challenge: Breaking News
Hi Everyone, so that prior article was supposed to put a wrap on things. But we got something pretty special that came in at the last minute, and I'm hoping that might be enough to get us to the goal of $50,250 (375 bikes). As of 1:47PM PST, we are $42,914 raised. That means we are $7,336 short of the goal. Put another way, that's 55 kids who won't get bikes to ride to school. Or 55 aid workers that won't be able to carry necessary supplies to remote villages. Or 55 farmers who'll have to figure out another way to get their goods to market.
But if ever there was something that screamed, "DONATE!" I think this new item we have up for grabs is it. Especially because it comes with a catch… That's right. We are only going to give this away if we get to $50,250. Otherwise, we're just going to use it for some other fundraising opportunity. So, what is this special prize? Well, it's good, and it just keeps getting better. It is…
An 2013 Ironman Canada (Whistler, BC) VIP package. It includes:
– an Ironman Foundation entry to Ironman Canada 2013 ($1400)
– a 2-night stay at the Aava Whistler hotel over race weekend ($800)
*UPDATED TO INCLUDE*
– summer sightseeing tickets on the Peak to Peak gondola ($120)
– entry passes to Whistler’s exclusive Scandinave Spa – to sooth those tired and aching muscles post event ($120)
– our friends at GoPro providing a Go Pro Hero3 Camera ($400)
– Whistler Brewing will assist with a prize pack of ice-cold beverages (priceless)
If – and only if – we hit our goal, we've got verbal confirmation from other Ironman Canada sponsors that they will chip in as well. We've spoken with many of the other Ironman Whistler event sponsors (hint – there are some pretty awesome – and unique within triathlon – companies on board), and they are all interested in making this the *ULTIMATE* VIP weekend. Obviously, because of the short notice on this, we haven't been able to finalize everything, but this is going to be amazing. We are NOT extending the deadline again. Midnight (PST) on Sunday November 4th remains the close. But you can be sure that this VIP package is only going to get more VIP before the race. But – *BUT* – remember, it's only getting given away if we hit that $50,250 mark.
Remember, you can donate ANY amount, but ONLY donations of $134 or more (the cost of one bicycle) will make you eligible for prizes. For every multiple of $134 that you donate, you get another entry. $268 earns you double eligibility, $402 earns triple, $536 quadruple, etc. You can enter online at our donation page: http://ironmanfoundation.org/rappstarcharitychallenge
Or via snail-mail at the following address:

The challenge awards will be done electronically, on a roll-down system. So, the first person will get first pick of awards, second place gets second choice, etc. Award drawing tickets will be assigned automatically from the donations, so please make sure to give us an email or phone number (or both) where we can reach you. Finally, we are lucky enough to have a few last-minute prize offerings to share. The previous complete list can be found at THIS LINK.
Thanks for your support! Jordan “Rappstar” Rapp
Now, if you wanted some yet another reason to donate, I've got that too. for the past several years, an anonymous donor has agreed to match 100% of the donations made "late in the year" to WBR. Because we did our fundraising through the IMF, they are going to write the check to WBR for all the funds we raised once the match period opens such that it will be eligible for this match. We checked with the donor, and he/she/it is okay, so we're not pulling any funny business here. But what it means is that if we hit our goal of $50,250, we're actually going to raise $100,500, which will provide 750 bikes. SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY BIKES!
In case you wondered what these bikes can do, they are a "solution." A solution to what you might ask? Well, I'm glad you did. You can watch the video. Or you can visit The Solution webpage.
People across rural Africa race the sun every day to meet basic needs. Without access to transportation, vital resources like healthcare, education and economic opportunity are often out of reach.
World Bicycle Relief is transforming individuals and their communities through The Power of Bicycles.
The solution is in your hands.
Help us put it in theirs.
