Slowtwitch Road Show in Maine
Wild Man Lars Finanger represented us in Maine, at a show where both Fleet Feet Maine Running and Cyclemania joined forces for one show. Lars snagged the photos with his trusty Smartphone.
The Slowtwitch Ice Cream Truck drove from Boston’s Logan International Airport up to Portland, Maine as part of a jam-packed Slowtwitch Road Show weekend with four separate stops.
Fleet Feet Maine Running teamed up with their next door neighbor, CycleMania, and hosted the most Northeastern stop of our 34 city 2016 Road Show Tour.
A seemingly endless flow of runners used Fleet Feet as their start and finish point.
David Brink manages CycleMania and is seen here arriving at the store after his 15-mile commute to open the store in preparation for cyclists to arrive for Maine’s most competitive Saturday group ride.
Some riders congregated inside the store to stay warm before the start of the ride.
Brink briefly welcomed the riders to the first official ride of the year and reminded the group to be courteous, obey traffic rules, and have fun.
Time to roll out.
Fleet Feet Maine Running manager, Maggie Poisson, ordered breakfast from Whole Foods for runners returning from their store’s Saturday morning social run.
Meanwhile back at Fleet Feet, an early morning indoor trainer class was in full swing prior to opening hours. This group was led by Denise Goode, a Coach at The Sustainable Athlete.
Maggie welcomed runners and invited them to demo shoes from ASICS, Hoka One One and Saucony before leaving on their runs.
Attendees took advantage of the demo shoes on hand.
Hoka One One’s tech rep works with a runner who tested out the Vanquish 2 (reviewed on Slowtwitch) demo shoes on the shop run.
Saucony had a full range of demo shoes on hand and stayed busy working with attendees throughout the day.
Runners returned to Fleet Feet from their run to find a full breakfast spread, coffee and juice.
Raffles took place every 25 minutes after the hour (10:25, 11:25, 12:25, 1:25, 2:25, 3:25 and 4:25) and featured prizes ranging from free entries into local events, free pairs of shoes from ASICS, Hoka One One and Saucony, and a $200 Gift Card from Fleet Feet!
Dogs welcome at Fleet Feet and “Z” was a big hit at the expo.
Todd Larlee recently returned to Cape Elizabeth, Maine and founded Coast Endurance which specializes in swim training for triathletes, teaching techniques honed from years he spent working with Gerry Rodriguez and Tower 26 in LA. Todd was one of the speakers during the day at Fleet Feet.
Erica Jesseman (second from right), Kristin Barry (third from right) and Sheri Piers (fourth from right) shared their experiences of running in the US Olympic Trials Marathon which was highly entertaining. Here they are seen huddled together with the friendly and helpful Fleet Feet staff following their talk.
Joey is the fit shoe expert at Fleet Feet and shares with attendees young and old his thoughts on how to find a properly fitting shoe.
Local race directors, coaches and tri clubs, including Tri-Maine, Ethos, Kennebunk Tri Club, White Mountains Triathlon and Casco Bay Swimrun were all on hand with specials and promotions for attendees.
