Super Prestige Zonhoven images

Kevin Pauwels and Sanne Cant won the 2014 Super Prestige cross race in Zonhoven, but the amazing part of this event is the massive amount of spectators. Enjoy these stunning images by Tom Prenen.

Diving down the tricky sandy descent and you see a sea of partying spectators. Some of course focused on the race and others on beer and frittes.

As expected Lars Van Der Holeshot was the first man to see the spectator throng.

Sven Nys knows this course well, but this descent is tricky even for very experienced folks.

Tim Merlier did not have a good day in Zonhoven and surely did not plan to taste the sand.

The lines constantly changed depending on the last few folks coming down, but for spectators that is the intriguing part.

Yu Takenouchi does his very best impression of a High Plains Drifter here.

Sven Nys attacked late but could not maintain the advantage.

If the focus shifts for one second trouble appears rather fast.

Pushing very hard for the placings.

Oops he did it again. Tim Merlier ended up not finishing here.

The women raced earlier in the day and had much happier skies.

But coming down this descent caused a lot of carnage.

Athletes used a variety of approached to get down fast and without eating sand.

It is sad that the spectators are much fewer during the women's race, but it allowed our man Tom Prenen to gt around.

Sanne Cant has a big target on her back as the Belgian National Champion.

Brit Helen Wyman on the way to 6th place in Zonhoven.

Nikki Harris leads Sanne Cant in this section of the course and the 2 battled hard until the end.

American Christine Vardaros could actually be considered an honorary Belgian and she certainly feels at home here.

Hannah Payton on the way to 19th place.

In the end Sanne Cant had a 12 second margin over Nikki Harris.
