The 2023/2024 100/100 Challenge is Upon Us

There are three certainties of Slowtwitch: death, taxes, and the 100/100 Run Challenge.

The latter of those is nearly upon us. Our Annual 100/100 Run Challenge is now accepting sign-ups, with the actual running scheduled to commence on December 1, 2023 and continuing until March 10, 2024.

Before we get into the new nuances of this year's event, let's first focus on what hasn't changed. The 100/100 Run Challenge was conceived on our Reader Forum, and the primary focus of this thing has always been about keeping run motivation high through the doldrums of winter. The biggest challenge component of that is attempting to complete 100 runs over the 100 days of the challenge, and a run must be at least two miles or 20 minutes (whichever comes first) in order to count. But ultimately it's about getting those miles in — whether that's 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, or more, runs in total, is somewhat irrelevant! Participation is, as always, free.

Like with all things, change is inevitable. This year's Official challenge is hosted over on RunSignUp. It requires you to register there. You'll also be logging your runs on the platform. We're there for a variety of reasons, but one of them is so that way we can sort results off of a variety of options, whether that's by total number of runs submitted, total distance run, or total time run. It will also make it easier for us to be able to get prizes out to runners. And yes, there will be prizes.

Here's what you need to know:
–Sign up on RunSignUp.
–Begin running on December 1st. Log on RunSignUp.
–A run is 20 minutes or two miles long.
–No more than two runs per day, please.
–We'll randomly give out prizes to runners who log at least some miles during the challenge.

Happy running, all.
