Weekend Box Dec 22 2013
In this Weekend Box we look at a talented young swimmer in Estonia, Santa themed runs gaining popularity and a cool new shop in Arizona. But no major events to report from and the same is likely true next weekend.
Start them early
As parents we are told that we should introduce babies early to the water, and as triathletes we are more likely to follow that advice. At the Aura Keskus waterpark in Tartu, Estonia they really pride themselves to teach babies swim, and 1 year 9 month old toddler Anabel clearly has paid attention to those lessons.
Santa Runs
Each weekend in December Santa themed runs are gaining popularity all over the world, and folks in Santa kits run with a few hundred or several thousand likewise minded folks anywhere from 5k to 10k. This weekend Galveston, TX and Greenville, SC were among those cities who offered such social fun events, but the bulk of them takes place earlier in December. If this strikes your fancy you surely missed out for this year, but next year is just around the corner. The picture below is from the Santa Hustle in Galveston, TX.
Bicycle Haüs
Scottsdale, AZ has a new cool bike shop. Not as in new kids in town, but newly constructed and impressive. Bicycle Haüs has been in Scottsdale since 2004 but the new 6700-square-foot building is sleek and modern with traditional elements such as an entire wall made from reclaimed barn wood and stairs that came from high-school bleachers from Missoula, Montana – where the owners are from. Bicycle Haüs is located at 7113 East 1st Avenue in Scottsdale.
