Watts Up in Watopia: Zwift Racing League
This week kicks off the Zwift Racing League Premier Division. Back for the second year, the Premier Division invites the very best men’s and women’s Zwift racing teams to go head-to-head in a points race.
You can tune in Mondays from October 11 through November 15 on GCN’s YouTube Channel or Facebook Page to watch the action.
The first race for the men and women is held on the Flatland Loop in Makuri Island. The men and women race for three laps and contest intermediate sprints for points each lap at the Country Sprint and the Village Sprint.
This points race format makes for some exciting racing, as teams will work to lead out their sprinter or launch a soloist to pick up points at the intermediate sprints and the finish line.
Who knew in those early beta days doing lonely laps on Jarvis Island that Zwift would evolve into a new form of eSport? Tune in to check out all the action.

Tuesday Ride of the Valkryies Workout (Women Only), 6:00 AM
This event is by and for women. It’s an almost no-drop, rubber-banded Structured Training workout, featuring a warm-up, set of intervals, and a cool-down. This week’s workout is Keep It Simple.
Tuesday Structured Training, 7:00 PM
Our Tuesday ride features triathlon-focused cycling workouts written by coaches and pro athletes affiliated with Slowtwitch. The workouts last 60 minutes and will help add variety and interest to your weekly training schedule. This week’s workout is Hang On!.
Wednesday Group Run, 7:00 AM & 7:00 PM
A more scenic group run on the Quatch Quest course.
Thursday Rise & Grind, 5:35 AM
This workout is a 55-minute early morning bracer for the East Coast crowd. Be sure to get a warm-up in and enter the staging area at least 5 minutes before the start. The groups will be fenced with the exception of designated KOMs and sprints, as well as the last 10 minutes of the ride. This ride is double-drafted, so don’t let gaps open up, or you’ll be off the back quickly!
Thursday SWIFT Ride, 6:55 PM
The newest ride to the Slowtwitch Indoors family, Slowtwitch SWIFT (Strong Women, It's Fun Together!) is here to bring another women's only ride to a slightly friendlier time slot. This ride will focus slightly more on strength-based work so bring those climbing legs. But even if you're feeling more like Mark Cavendish in the mountains of the Tour de France, so long as you keep the pedals moving, you'll stay with our group.
Friday Festina Lente, 9:00 AM
This structured training workout is designed to get you geared up for the weekend. Roughly translated as “make haste, slowly,” Festina Lente features a workout that will get your engine running but still leave some in the tank for the big rides and races you have planned for the weekend. This ride is led by members of the Kanberra Cycling Team as lead beacon. August will feature a progression of four workouts designed by Craig Polston of EVOQ.BIKE. This week’s workout is Aerobic Ramps.
