Kyle Buckingham’s Very Shiny Dimond Mogul
There might not be many races happening right now but South African Kyle Buckingham recently got a shiny new Dimond Mogul race machine and we took a closer look. Apparently only 25 Mogul frames will be made available in 2020. When asked about the chromed look of this bike Buckingham said he was inspired by a bike German Andi Böcherer rode a few years back in Kona.
"The bike is super stiff, and fast!" said Buckingham to slowtwitch.com. There are no bottle cages mounted as we speak, but he has a bottle behind the seat and an aero torpedo on the front of the bars when racing. When training he uses a bottle cage on the down tube and bottle behind the seat.
Can you see yourself? Buckingham is riding a SRAM AXS 1×12 system with Speedplay Aero titanium pedals and a 10-33 cassette in the back. Crank length is 170mm and the power meter is built in.
The cockpit of this Dimond Mogul features a Red Crown Monarch Aerobar with 51 Speedshop pads and D2Z extensions.
Here is the view of the cockpit from above, and the Garmin computer is currently not mounted. Also missing here is his BTA Torpedo hydration system.
The upper section of the frame is painted pearl white and the saddle Buckingham is trusting is a Cobb Fifty Five JOF saddle.
The Dimond integrated LUNCH box on the top tube is currently not filled, but on race day he stashes gels in 2 small flasks where he can add up to 12 gels.
A closer look at the front of the frame also shows the placement of the TriRig front brake. The front wheel is a tubeless 64mm Mavic Comete with CeramicSpeed bearings and a Mavic UST PRO 25mm tire.
There is more storage just above the BB, and on this bike the BB is a CeramicSpeed one.
The rear wheel is a Mavic Comete disc with a 25mm UST PRO tire and the derailleur is a SRAM AXS that is busy with the 10-33 SRAM cassette.
The happy pilot of the Dimond Mogul would likely even be happier if he could be racing this fast looking shiny machine.
