That new Canyon Speedmax CF
Canyon launched a new triathlon bike at the Eurobike trade show at the super low entry cost of Euro 2,299 and also with a different geometry. According to Canyon the new CF has a taller stack and shorter reach to accommodate a very broad array of athletes.
The brakes on this bikes are not hidden from the wind as we have come to see on the bikes of Jan Frodeno and Nils Frommhold, but on this more affordable option the braking is handled by Shimano direct mount units. The storage space in front of the seat post is also not part of the Speedmax CF offering, but we can't really complain about that at such an affordable point of entry. And man it does look super fast and sexy.
But how does this help you in North America? Plans are well underway to sell these bikes here in the USA and Canada, and other bike brands have been put on notice.
The most entry level bike is the Canyon Speedmax CF 8.0 and it is available in two color schemes (venom green and meteor grey/white) and features mostly Shimano 105 components and Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels. The cockpit is by Canyon and the extension by Profile Design and the saddle is a Fizik Ardea. It is offered in 5 different sizes ranging from XS through XL and there is also a women specific edition in 3 sizes (XS, S and M) and a meteor grey/aquamarin color.
At the top end of the Speedmax CF range is the Speedmax CF 9.0 Di2 at Euro 4,499. It is offered with Shimano Ultegra Di2 components and Reynolds Strike SLG carbon clincher wheels. But there is also a Euro 2,999 and 3,399 offering in between.
The geometry chart offers a lot of details of these 5 sizes and you can now decide which one is best for you.
